South Dakota legislative systems.

Government operations · South Dakota · Since 2018

Two years planned. Bill drafting delivered in one. South Dakota LRC planned two years for its bill drafting system. North Dakota recommended allowing three. We delivered the system in the first year and used the second to build the Legislature's public website.

When COVID-19 required remote voting, we built the system in about two weeks. LRC later chose to keep it when a commercial alternative was offered. Read the remote voting story.

Payroll, tax mapping, and ACH tools.

Our work for ByteWish Foundation connects the details behind everyday financial operations: hours worked, payroll calculations, tax jurisdictions, and bank files.

From timekeeping to payroll.

Time tracking, PTO, payroll calculations, paystubs, and client invoicing belong in the same workflow. We built connected applications that carry those records through to financial documents and payroll NACHA output.

Developing Today Accessibility brings website and document audits, manual review, findings, and reporting into one place.

Reviewers can investigate a finding, keep its evidence with the affected page, and track its status. Manual checklists keep the questions that need human judgment alongside the automated results.

Reports turn that work into an executive summary, criteria scorecard, detailed findings, and a remediation roadmap. Teams can print or save the report as a PDF and export supporting records as CSV.

Put our GIS engineering to the test.

Sundial ranks first overall in our published comparison of seven mapping libraries, including ArcGIS, Google Maps, and MapLibre. The workload includes real parcels, addresses, and roads, with performance and geodesic accuracy measured together.

See how the engines handle large maps and precise geometry. Inspect the raw measurements, read the methodology, or run the benchmark on your own hardware.

GIS benchmark standings: Sundial 100, ArcGIS 66, Google Maps 43 overall. Sundial is identified as Developing Today's own entry.

Our delivery approach

On time. Under budget. Built to adapt.

You should see useful software early and continued progress as your needs change. We work with your team to weave new features into the existing scope while delivering on time and under budget.

Our process fits your team. We keep the conversations practical and the plan flexible, so useful ideas can become part of the system as we go.

  • Work with your team.

We stay close to the people using the software. Regular conversations help us understand what works, what needs to change, and what would make the biggest difference.

  • Share working software.

We put working software in front of you early. Your feedback guides what we improve and what we build next.

  • Make room for new features.

Useful ideas emerge once people start using a system. We adapt the plan and add features as we learn what will help your team.

  • Deliver on time and under budget.

We keep delivery on schedule as priorities evolve, weaving useful new features into the existing scope.

For South Dakota LRC, delivering bill drafting a year early gave us year two to build the public website.

From existing systems to everyday use.

A system should get more valuable as you use it. We bring your data over, connect your applications, and keep improving the software with your team. We stay with the work after it goes live.

For South Dakota LRC, we brought in records dating to Dakota Territory that were missing from the system we replaced. Preserving that history was part of the work.

Data conversion is included.
We believe in preserving your data. We never charge extra for conversion, including older records, regardless of how many years of history you bring forward.
Your software and data stay yours.
You own the source code and data. We earn your continued business through the quality of our work. Full end-user data exports and full-featured OpenAPI specifications are standard in our systems.
Support around the clock.
24/7 support, full point-in-time backups in Azure, and full access controls support your day-to-day operations. Your assigned emergency support contact is available on holidays too.

What does your vendor validate?

Your software has to get the work right, protect your data, and keep working when people depend on it. That takes checks of business rules, integrations, permissions, and failure handling alongside performance and accessibility. The published tests of this website are one example of that work.
